Pay: $275.00-300.00 per hour

Assignment Length: 

  • Initial 13-week contract
  • Potential to extend

Details: 

  • 7 days, 1 week per month
    • Tuesday 7:00a – Tuesday 7:00a
    • Scheduled week is variable
  • Outpatient 50%, average 10 PPD
  • Inpatient 50%, average census 5
  • Adult population
  • Practice includes:
    • 3 Cardiologists
    • 4 Clinical Pharmacists
    • 12 RN Transplant Coordinators
    • 3 Medical Assistants
    • 1 VAD Coordinator
  • EMR: EPIC
  • Credentialing: 30 days

Requirements:

  • Active Washington license
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 1-year Heart Failure experience

Provided Travel Expenses:

  • Round-trip flight
  • Rental car and fuel

Job Responsibilities (Generalized):

  • Provide comprehensive cardiac care to patients in various inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), echocardiograms, and stress tests
  • Interpret diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans for various cardiovascular conditions
  • Perform cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures (depending on the cardiologist’s subspecialty)
  • Educate and counsel patients on heart disease prevention, risk factors and healthy lifestyle choices
  • Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals (nurses, surgeons, specialists) to ensure coordinated patient care
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records for all patients
  • Stay current on the latest advancements in cardiology through continuing education

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of cardiology principles and practices, including diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart disease
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Technical proficiency in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures (if applicable)
  • Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to adapt to changing patient conditions
  • Time management and organizational skills to manage a patient workload effectively

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
  • Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
  • Fellowship training in cardiology (may be preferred depending on the position)

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Board certification in cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the AOA
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in Washington

Experience:

  • While specific requirements may vary, most locum cardiologist positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing cardiac care in a clinical setting

  • Locum tenens cardiologist positions are temporary assignments, often lasting weeks or months, to address staffing shortages in hospitals, cardiology clinics, or other healthcare facilities

  • Cath Lab/STEMI call coverage
  • 24-hour call, 1 week per month
  • Recent Impella device experience preferred
  • Experience with PE interventions/treatments a plus
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Credentialing: 60-90 days

Requirements:

  • Active Washington license or IMLC
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 1-year Interventional Cardiology experience

  • Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies
  • Monitor patient progress and response to treatments, adjusting care plans as needed
  • Address and manage acute cardiovascular emergencies and complications
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records

Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of interventional cardiology techniques and procedures
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical judgment skills, particularly in high-pressure situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in cardiology-specific medical equipment and technology
  • Ability to handle complex and often urgent medical situations
  • Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams

Details: 

  • Outpatient and call coverage
  • 1-3 weeks per month
  • Clinic coverage
    • Monday-Friday, 8:00a-5:00p
    • 2 days per week as non-invasive diagnostic study reader (approx. 20 ECHOs and 4 nuclear studies) with an abbreviated clinic schedule (approx. 8 patients)
    • Other 3 days will be strictly clinic coverage
  • Night call
    • 1 night per week, 5:00p-6:00a
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Credentialing: 60-90 days
