  • Schedule: 
    • 4 10-hour shifts per week, 7:00a-5:30p
    • Urgent coverage needs:
      • June 30
      • July 1-3, 8-11, 16-19
    • Ongoing need
    • EMR: EPIC
    • Credentialing: 60-90 days
  • Requirements:
    • Active Washington license
    • Board certification
    • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Experience: 1 year

Job Responsibilities (Generalized):

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and NP or PA specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly

  • Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
  • Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
  • Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team

Education Requirements:

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Virginia
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])
  • Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Washington
  • National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Experience:

  • While specific requirements may vary, most locum NP and PA positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

  • Locum tenens NP and PA positions are temporary assignments, often lasting weeks or months, to address staffing shortages in hospitals, surgical centers or other healthcare facilities
