  • Description: 
    • Level II trauma center
    • 44-bed ED
    • Fast Track staffed by APPs
    • 2 MDs on each shift
    • EMR: EPIC
    • Credentialing: 30 days
  • Requirements:
    • Active Massachusetts PA license
    • Board certification
    • AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
  • Experience: 
    • 1 year Emergency Medicine experience

Job Responsibilities (Generalized):

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and PA specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly

Skills:

  • Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
  • Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
  • Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team

Education Requirements:

  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Massachusetts
  • National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Experience:

  • While specific requirements may vary, most locum PA positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty
